What you should know about Rodney:

OEF/OIF USMC Veteran that loves the bass fishing and the outdoors.

How Rodney started fishing

Like many others my grand day intorduced me to fishing, growing up watching  TNN outdoors, Bill Dance Jimmy Houston and of course Bassmasters turned me on at an early age. Watching Bryan Kerchal  in the early 90's be the youngest member ot B.A.S.S win the Classic turn me completely on to tournament fishing.

Aspirations or goals with fishing

To become a better angler and eventually fish the FLW trail. Then later on the BASS tournament trail.

Favorite way to fish

Top water is my favorite way to fish, followed by finess fishing.

Most exciting fishing experience

Catching a  6.5 pounder on a bill lewis 1/2 oz crome with a blue back Rat-L-Trap at age 15 &  having  a bass blow up on my  top water Rebel Pop -R which is an all - time classic bait.

How Rodney preps for a tournament

As a coangler until I get a boat I normally conduct all the market research I can prior to a tournament, this includes checking all fishing reports, checking the lunar calendar for the moon phase , I check the tide charts to see when low and high tides are to coordinate my game plan, I read all ABA articles of what's working across the country and  at what depth fish are being caught and on what type of bait/lure. I normaly pick up a few small orders from bass pro and tackle warehouse because it's always somethig I think I need. Finially I rig up, I try to cover all the water columns that are appropriate as a co angler because you have to be versitile and be able to adjust to what your boater is doing  so be prepaired.

Three favorite search baits

Dave's Tournament Tackle Spinnerbait with gold blades, Rat-L-Trap / Red Eye Shad , and a  Chatterbait

Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.

Most challenging part of tournament fishing

fishing from the back of the boat and not being about to pitch into the laydown first

When tournaments don't go my way

Analyze what went wrong and see what my boater was doing to catch fish vs what I did and make adjustments.

Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:

Pay attention to everything, soak up as much knowledge as you can and fish as much as you can as often as you can. Make every trip to the water count.
