Ray Neighbors Wins  opener on Lake Hamilton


The first tournament of the ABA American Fishing Tour D47 2018 season was held on 4 Nov 2017 and contested on Lake Hamilton.  29 anglers came out on a dreary day in the hopes of filling their livewells with hungry Hamilton bass.  A limit-fest as usual, 17 5-fish limits and a total of 99 bass for 159.84lbs were weighed.

Brian Bean Wins D47 Championship on Ouachita

Brian Bean of Hot Springs, Arkansas won the D47 Divisional Championship that was held on 25-26 March 2017 and contested on Lake Ouachita. Brian topped the field with two 5-fish limits for a total weight of 33.85 pounds. Brian earned $1,178 for his efforts.

Bryant Wins on Lake Maumelle

Cody Bryant of Little Rock, Arkansas won the final 1-day event of the AFT D44 that was held on March 4th and contested on Lake Maumelle. Cody topped the field with five fish for a total weight of 16.04 pounds. Cody threw crankbaits and jerkbaits to catch his fish. Cody earned $602 for his efforts. Cody also caught the biggest bass of the event weighing in at 5.14 pounds.

Brian Bean of Hot Springs, Arkansas took the win for the AFT D47 event held on February 11th on Lake Ouachita. Brian topped the field with five fish and a total weight of 16.42 pounds. Brian threw a jig to catch his fish. He also collected $640 for his efforts.

Brian Bean topped the field with five fish for a total weight of 15.63 pounds. Brian threw a swimbait and spoon to catch his fish. He collected $666 for his efforts.

Gary Hubble of Alexander, Arkansas wins the third tournament of the AFT D47 2017 season held on December 17th and contested on Lake Maumelle. Gary topped the field with five fish for a total weight of 14.97 pounds. Gary threw a jerkbait and jig to catch his fish. Gary earned $451 for his efforts.

Sandlin Wins on Lake Ouachita

Derek Sandlin of Mount Ida, Arkansas won the second event of the AFT D47 2017 season that was held on November 5th and contested on Lake Ouachita. 35 anglers came out and were greeted with unseasonably warm air and water temperatures. Bass have not moved into their typical fall patterns in central Arkansas. 126 limits crossed the scales and 111 fish were caught for a total weight of 200.11 pounds, less than a 2 pound average.

Ellis Wins on Lake DeGray

Mark Ellis of Malvern, Arkansas wins the first event for the 2017 AFT D47 season held on DeGray on October 1st. Mark topped the field with five fish for a total weight of 14.94 pounds. Mark fished a crankbait around main lake creek channels to catch his fish. He took home $579 for his first place finish.

Wilson Wins Division 47 Two-Day Championship on Lake DeGray

Division 47 of the Ram American Fishing Tour contested its two-day Divisional Championship of the 2016 season on Lake DeGray March 12th and 13th, 2016.  Recent heavy rains raised the water level five feet in the course of a few days and muddied many areas.  The bass were scattered and difficult to pattern.  However, a few anglers were able to figure out how to make the catch.

Blake Wilson topped the field with nine fish for a total weight of 18.67 pounds.  Blake relied on a jig and spinnerbait to catch his fish, bringing home a check for $850.

Doug Shrum Wins on Lake Maumelle

The Ram American Fishing Tour, Division 47 of American Bass Anglers contested its final one day tournament of the 2016 season at Lake Maumelle on February 13, 2016.  Fishing conditions were tough as a recent cold front dropped air and water temperatures and left a strong easterly wind blowing the morning of the tournament.  The bass had a good case of lock jaw but a few anglers managed to break the code.

Jamey Black Wins at Lake Hamilton

The fifth tournament of the 2016 Ram American Fishing Tour Division 47 season was held at Lake Hamilton on January 16, 2016. Despite several cold fronts that have moved through the area in recent weeks, the warmer than average temperatures across Arkansas have kept the water temperatures in the low to mid 50’s. Lake Hamilton bass are still scattered throughout the water column making it difficult for some to pin them down.  However, as always, someone finds the better fish. 33 anglers caught 113 fish for a total weight of 247.18 pounds, more than a 2 pound average. A total of 16 five fish limits were brought to the scales.

Kevin Thompson Takes the Win at Lake Hamilton

The fourth tournament of the 2016 Ram American Fishing Tour Division 47 season was held on Lake Hamilton December 19th, 2015.  A recent cold front dropped air temperatures into the lower 30's, but the water remained in the mid to upper 50's due to the warmer than normal December; keeping some quality fish up shallow and many fish scattered.  Lake Hamilton, usually a very clear lake, was stained due to recent heavy rains but that didn’t stop the parade of limits crossing the scales. 31 anglers caught 124 fish for a total weight of 220.59 pounds, nearly a 2 pound average.  20 five-fish limits were brought to the scales.

Kevin Thompson topped the field with a five fish limit with a total weight of 18.30 pounds. Kevin threw a jig to haul in his limit.

Brian Bean Takes the Win at Lake DeGray

The third tournament of the 2016 Ram American Fishing Tour Division 47 season was held on Lake DeGray November, 21st 2015. A balmy, almost warm, morning prior to take-off gave way to cooler air, scattered rain, and windy frontal conditions as anglers set out on Lake DeGray. Heavy rains during the week raised the water level more than two feet and brought muddy and stained water to the backs of many creeks. Baitfish moved throughout the week…and so did the bass. However, the bass still had their feedbags strapped on as plenty of fish were caught.  28 anglers brought in 111 bass for a total weight of 186.30 pounds with 17 five-fish limits crossing the scales.

Gary Hubble Takes the Win at Lake Ouachita

The second tournament of the 2016 Ram American Fishing Tour Division 47 season was contested on Lake Ouachita November 7th, 2015.  Windy and cooler cold front conditions greeted the anglers in the morning.  Anglers reported catching fish using various methods and water depths from 6 inches to 30 feet, typical of fall fishing.  Better quality fish were tough to come by, but plenty of limit fillers crossed the scales.  A total 24 anglers came out and caught 75 fish for a combined total weight of 129.19 lbs.  

Gary Hubble topped the field with a five fish limit with a total weight of 12.34 lbs.  Gary threw a variety of baits to haul in his limit, catching the Big Bass of the day, weighing 4.46 lbs, on topwater.

Doug Shrum Wins the Division 47 Opener at Lake Maumelle

The American Fishing Tour, Division 47, of American Bass Anglers held its 2016 season opener on Lake Maumelle October 3, 2015.  Cooler temps made for more comfortable fishing conditions, but the wind kept boats pushed around and made for a bumpy ride across the lake.  Some anglers indicated a strong reaction bite in the early morning, then slowing down as the day progressed.  Seventeen anglers came out and caught 61 fish for a total weight of 86.31 pounds. 

Doug Shrum topped the field with a five fish limit for a total weight of 11.88 pounds.  Doug threw a spinnerbait early to haul in a limit, then relied on a jig to upgrade.  Doug also caught the Big Bass of the day, weighing 4.61 pounds, on a jig.

Eric Turner Wins the Division 47 Two-Day Championship

Athens, Al - Eric Turner won the American Fishing Tour Arkansas division 47 tournament with ten fish totaling 25.79 pounds held on Lake Ouachita on 04/18/2015.

The American Fishing Tour, Division 47 of American Bass Anglers contested its two-day Divisional Championship of the 2015 season on Lake Ouachita 18-19 Apr 2015. The bass were scattered with many roaming the banks. A few stragglers were setting up to spawn. Fifteen anglers produced 113 fish, including thirteen five fish limits, for a total weight of 214.40 pounds over the weekend.

Eric Turner topped the field with a five fish limit both days for a total weight of 25.79 pounds. Eric relied on a Livingston Lures 1.5 squarebill then upgraded throughout each day fishing a craw tube fished on 65 pound braid spooled up to reel and flipping stick. Eric earned $864 for his efforts over the weekend.

Ray Neighbors Wins D47 Tournament at Hamilton

The American Fishing Tour, Division 47 of American Bass Anglers held its final one-day Divisional Tournament of the 2015 season on Lake Hamilton on March 28, 2015. A recent cold front had knocked the water temperature down a few degrees but it didn't seem to affect the fish too much. Eighteen anglers produced 59 fish, including ten five fish limits, for a total weight of 111.72 pounds.
 
Ray Neighbors topped the field with a five fish limit that weighed 18.18 pounds. John relied on a Rat-L-Trap to catch his fish. Ray earned $590 for his efforts on the day.
 
Bill Cerrato earned $288 for second place. He too hauled in a five fish limit that weighed 10.91 pounds all caught on a Carolina-rig.

Josh Ray Wins Division 47 Tournament at Hamilton

Athens, Al - Josh Ray won the American Fishing Tour Arkansas division 47 tournament with five fish weighing 10.43 pounds held on Hamilton on 01/17/2015.

The American Fishing Tour, Division 47 of American Bass Anglers held its third Divisional Tournament of the 2015 season on Lake Hamilton, 17 Jan 2015. Despite a few warmer than average days, the water temp remained in the mid 40's. Most of the lake was muddy which might have accounted for the lower than typical catches for this time of year on Hamilton. Many anglers stated they struggled to get bites. 23 anglers produced 54 fish, with only six five fish limits brought to the scales.
