Josh Ray Wins Division 47 Tournament at Hamilton

01/17/2015

Story by John Simonof

Athens, Al - Josh Ray won the American Fishing Tour Arkansas division 47 tournament with five fish weighing 10.43 pounds held on Hamilton on 01/17/2015.

The American Fishing Tour, Division 47 of American Bass Anglers held its third Divisional Tournament of the 2015 season on Lake Hamilton, 17 Jan 2015. Despite a few warmer than average days, the water temp remained in the mid 40's. Most of the lake was muddy which might have accounted for the lower than typical catches for this time of year on Hamilton. Many anglers stated they struggled to get bites. 23 anglers produced 54 fish, with only six five fish limits brought to the scales.

Josh Ray topped the field with a five fish limit that weighed 10.43 pounds. Josh slow-rolled a spinnerbait in deep water to sack of his fish and earned $579 for his efforts on the day.

Bill Cerrato earned $346 for second place. He too hauled in a five fish limit that weighed 9.07 pounds using a variety of techniques.

Gary Hubble rounded out the top three. Gary also brought in a five fish limit that weighed 7.94 pounds caught on a variety of baits.

These anglers acquired valuable points to insure their entry into the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held on Lake Hartwell, South Carolina, in October 2015.

The next ABA tournament in Arkansas will be in Division 47 on Lake DeGray on February 7, 2015, launching out of Iron Mt. Resort.

In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament.

The American Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler. All ABA anglers fish for money and points. The points advance the angler to their divisional championship and the top 500 anglers in the US are invited to the American Fishing Tour National Championship.
