Lance Eckford Takes Home First Place at Lake Norman

Athens, Al - Lance Eckford, of Troutman, NC won the American Fishing Tour North Carolina Charlotte division 14 tournament with five fish weighing 9.80 pounds held on Lake Norman on 03/07/2015.
Second place went to Scott McClamb, of Mooresville, North Carolina, with a five bass limit weighing 9.63 pounds. Third place went to Brad Zeigler of Matthews, NC with five bass weighing in at 8.94 pounds. Fourth place went to Mitch Drew of Gold Hill, NC with three bass weighing 7.27 pounds. The AOY race is heating up with three events complete within Division 14. The current leader will need to stay consistent to stay on top, with five events left before the two day Championship.At launch time the temperatures were in the low 20's with clear skies. The day continued with temperatures topping out in the high 50's and sunny skies throughout the day. Water temperatures were in the upper 40's to low 50's.The winning pattern was shallow cranking in 3 to 6 ft. of water. Lance Eckford felt the key to his bite was finding slightly warmer water. All of his fish bit later in the afternoon in one part of the lake that had water temps 2 degrees warmer than the surrounding areas.Big Bass winner: Big bass honors went to Jerry Stone of Sherrils Ford, NC who caught a 4.85 pound largemouth.
Next Event: The next tournament in division 14 is scheduled for March 28th out of Southmont Landing on High Rock Lake.

These anglers earn valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round at the AFT Championship. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament.
The American Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler. All ABA anglers fish for money and points. The points advance the angler to their divisional championship and the top 500 anglers in the US are invited to the American Fishing Tour National Championship.
