Jesse Via Wins on East Brimfield Reservoir
ATHENS, Ala. – Jesse Via won the American Bass Anglers Division 97 tournament held May 17, 2015 on East Brimfield Reservoir in Sturbridge, Mass.
Jesse caught four bass weighing 7.81 pounds with a 3.08 pound kicker. For the victory, Jesse took home a check for $451. All his fish were taken with a weightless Senko in very shallow water. Casting as far as possible away from the boat was required to avoid spooking the fish.
In second among the competitors was Mark Schultz who caught four bass weighing 6.66 pounds and pocketed a check for $254.
The top five were:
Jesse Via 7.81
Mark Schultz 6.66
Tim Brecht 5.96
Sean Lloyd 5.06
Al Gagliarducci 4.76
Conditions the entire day were excellent. Water temps were mid 60’s while the air warmed to the upper 70’s. A moderate wind was present most of the day. A few nights of cold weather seems to have slowed the fishing way down, but these anglers figured out what they wanted.
These anglers accrued valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual ABA RAM American Fishing Tour National Championship on Lake Hartwell.
The next divisional tournament will be held 6/7/2015 on Otis reservoir. Tournament hours are 0600 – 1400. For more information, call ABA at (256) 232-0406. On line, see www.americanbassanglers.com.
The American Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler. All ABA anglers fish for money and points. The points advance the angler to their divisional championship and the top 500 anglers in the US are invited to the RAM American Fishing Tour National Championship.
