Cox Wins on Stockton Lake
Carl Cox of Aldrich, MO is one step closer to the RAM American Fishing Tour National Championship with his first place win and earnings of $579 in the American Fishing Tour event held on the Stockton Lake, June 13, 2015. Cox brought in a five bass limit that weighed 12.5 lbs. Second place went to Springfield angler, Jay Carter who also had a five bass limit, his weighing 10.58 lbs. Third place and Big Bass honors went to Bruce Gandy with four fish weighing 10.52 including the 5.5 lb big bass. Byron Maze was fourth with 9.89 lbs and 5th place went to Mike Dill with 9.53 lbs.
The weather was somewhat unstable with rain threating most of the day. Air temperature was mild, topping out in mid 80's; water temperature was in the upper 70's. The wind was southerly about 10 mph. Some anglers reported catching fish using jigs in 15-25 feet of water; others used a Biffle Bug.
This was the final one day tournament for D126. Anglers who have qualified will be able to fish the two day Championship which is scheduled for August 1-2, 2015 on Stockton Lake, launching out of Hartley Boat Ramp. These anglers accrued valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round Fish-Off. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament. This year has come to a end with some good weights. Thanks to the National Championship being on Old Hickory Lake this year it helped the division 31's turn out.
