Jay Carter Wins and Cox Takes Big Bass on Stockton

Three anglers overcame the high water and dropping water temperatures to weigh in a five fish limit at the American Bass Anglers Ram American Fishing Tour division 126 tournament on Stockton Lake December 19th, 2015. Jay Carter of Springfield, MO topped the field, weighing in 13.80 pounds and followed very closely by Carl Cox of Aldrich with 13.47 pounds, which included the day’s Big Bass, a 6.13 pound smallmouth bass. Carter took $579 for the win; Cox took $346 for second place and $230 for Big Bass. Third place went to Jasper angler, Larry Tasket with four fish weighing 11.22 pounds; 4th place was Bill Stines of Oklahoma with five fish that weighed 9.81 pounds.
The weather was a cool 32˚ at the 8:00 a.m. launch time, but warmed to over 55˚ with a full day of sunshine. The wind was out of the south at 5-10 mph. Water temperatures were steady at 48-50˚. Due to recent rains, the water level was up three to four feet. Anglers reported catching fish on a variety of baits including figs and crank baits.
The next division 126 tournament will be April 16th, 2016 launching out of Ruark Bluff.
