Welcome to the American Fishing Tour

Prato Wins on Highland Lake

Nunzio Prato from Shirley, New York won the Ram American Fishing Tour presented by American Bass Anglers, Connecticut Division 6 tournament held May 21st on Highland Lake.  Running out of the State ramp landing near the town of Winsted CT, the New York angler caught his five fish mixed bag of smallmouth and largemouth bass weighing 11.81 pounds.  Nunzio did not catch a keeper fish at his first tournament with Division 6 last month, but made up for it by winning his second one. Nunzio said he caught most of his fish on a jig targeting shallow water pre-spawn and spawning fish. For the victory, he took home $376 in cash.

For his second consecutive tournament in as many tries, John Ogolik from Terryville CT finished in second place.  John’s limit of all largemouth weighed in at 11.02 pounds. He pocketed $163 in cash for his efforts.

Taking third place, Tom Sweeney from Glastonbury Connecticut caught his five bass limit, which also included a nice 3.60 smallmouth for the big fish of the day.
Rounding out the Top 5, Tom Dupuis and Don Philpot placed 4th and 5th place respectfully.

The next Division 6 tournament will be held on 11 June 2016 at Congamond Lake launching out from the Southwick MA state ramp. For more information about this Division and future events visit www.americanbassanglers.com or contact the local Director for Connecticut, Tom Dupuis at 860-583-2959.

These anglers are earning valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual Ram American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of the Year Final Round at the Ram American Fishing Tour National Championship.

The Ram American Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler. All ABA anglers fish for money and points. The points advance the angler to their divisional championship and the top 500 anglers in the US are invited to the Ram American Fishing Tour National Championship.
