Dupuis Wins Two Day and AOY

Tom Dupuis of Terryville, Connecticut won the AFT Connecticut D6 Two Day event held on August 6th and 7th on Lake Lillinonah. Running out of the State Ramp Landing, Tom caught a total of eight bass weighing 17.77 pounds. Fishing up river in very shallow weedy cover, Tom caught all his fish in less than 2 feet of water. To fish those areas he used only two baits, a topwater in the early morning and a chatterbait the rest of the day. The chatterbait caught most of his fish to include a 5.32 pound largemouth on Day One and it turned out to be the tournaments biggest bass. For the win Tom collected $726.

Tom also wound up at the top of the Angler of the Year points and will be the D6 representative competing in the AFT National AOY tournament to be held at Lake Eufaula this coming October.

In second among the competitors, Nunzio Prato from Shirley, New York caught a total of six bass weighing 15.28 pounds. He caught most of his bigger fish with a swimbait with a ¾ ounce weight fishing in 30 feet of water. Using that presentation, he caught a beautiful 4.73 smallmouth for the big fish on Day Two. He collected $356 in cash for his efforts.

Taking third place, AFT D10 Director Don Philpot from Shohola, Pennsylvania caught a total of seven bass weighing 11.42 pounds. Don worked several baits and methods to catch his fish.
