Jay Carter Takes Win and AOY

Jay Carter of Springfield, Missouri won the AFT D126 2-day Divisional Championship held on Stockton Lake on August 27th and 28th. Jay came back from a weight of 4.09 pounds on day 1 and brought in a weight of 14.72 pounds on day 2 with a total weight of 18.81 pounds for both days. His catch also included Big Fish for the second day at a weight of 6.27 pounds. Jay took home $1,204 for his efforts. Jay also took the Angler of the Year title for D126. He will compete against 40 AOY's from other divisions and will have a chance to win a fully rigged Triton boat.

Second place went to Greenfield, Missouri angler, Mike Dill, with a total weight of 11.99 pounds. Mike also caught Big Fish on day 1 weighing in at 2.77 pounds. Mike pocketed $540 for second place.

Coming in third was Scott Tassi of Arma, Kansas with a total weight of 11.77 pounds. Scott took home $158 for his efforts.

The weather on both days was cooperative, but the fish, not so much. Sunshine and clouds ruled both days, with not much wind and temperatures reaching the upper 80’s. Anglers enjoyed a Saturday afternoon meal at Ken’s Café in Arcola. Awards were presented Sunday immediately following the weigh-in. There were plaques, prizes and/or cash for all participants.
 
Full results with pictures can be found at www.centralmidwestbass.com. This completes the 2016 season for D126. A fall schedule has been set. The first fall tournament is October 8, 2016. Fall tournaments will count for the 2017 ABA season. ABA membership is $25/year; entry fee for each tournament is $70. D126 is a draw format tournament series open to anyone age 14 and up. Anyone interested in joining should call the local director, Becky Minor at (316)644-1454. 

The American Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler. All ABA anglers fish for money and points. The points advance the angler to their divisional championship and the top 500 anglers in the US are invited to the American Fishing Tour National Championship.

American Bass Anglers is the largest tournament organization for the weekend angler.
