James Stoler Wins Lake Guntersville

From Division 29, Alabama North, James Stoler of Decatur, Alabama is one step closer to the 2017 ABA National Championship with a first place win during the Ram AFT event held on Lake Guntersville on October 29th. James caught a five bass limit weighing 14.01 pounds and won the big fish money with a 4.55 pound largemouth. James credited flipping and a spinnerbait after lunch for his success.

Finishing in second place was Ken Draskovic with a weight of 12.62 pounds.

Third was the well known fisherman Joey Shelton with a catch of 12.24 pounds.

Top Five Finishers:
1. James Stoler        14.01 lbs
2. Ken Draskovic      12.62 lbs
3. Joey Shelton        12.24 lbs
4. Harold Wilson       6.31 lbs
5. Mitch Smith          5.49 lbs

The morning was a cool 58 degrees but warmed up to 80 by the weigh-in time. The wind was calm and the water level was a foot below normal pool. The lake has received a lot of press lately for it’s decline in fishing success. Today was no different. Fifteen experienced Guntersville anglers tried their best to put them in the boat, with only three catching limits, and twelve anglers catching two or less for the day.

This division’s next event will be held November 19th on Lake Guntersville out of Goosepond. For more information on this or any future event in this division contact Mike Garlen at (256)998-0171.

These anglers are earning valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual Ram American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of the Year Final Round at the Ram American Fishing Tour National Championship.

The Ram American Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler. All ABA anglers fish for money and points.
