Brian Bean Wins D47 Championship on Ouachita
Brian Bean of Hot Springs, Arkansas won the D47 Divisional Championship that was held on 25-26 March 2017 and contested on Lake Ouachita. Brian topped the field with two 5-fish limits for a total weight of 33.85 pounds. Brian earned $1,178 for his efforts.
Bill Cerrato earned second place and threw a variety of baits to sack up two 5-fish for a total weight of 22.89 pounds earning him $634.
Rounding out the top three was Larry Lambertus who also caught two 5-fish limits for a total weight of 22.41 pounds earning him $202.
Big Bass of day 1 weighed 5.19 lbs and was caught by Ray Neighbors.
A recent warming trend was slowed by several fronts moving through, but a few bass, mostly smaller spotted bass, had already committed to the spawn and were locked on beds. The fronts kept other bass from moving up and made it difficult to pin down a consistent pattern for many. 21 anglers came out and brought in 168 bass for a total weight of 328.82 lbs with 27 5-fish limits crossing the scales over the weekend. But as always, a few anglers found some better quality fish.
