Loewy wins AFT D11 Championship on the Potomac

Pat Loewy of Bowie, MD won the American Bass Anglers RAM American Fishing Tour Maryland D11 2-day tournament held Aug 19th and 20th 2017 on the Potomac River.  Running out of Smallwood State Park near Marbury, MD Pat brought back a five-fish limit on day 1 that locked in the scales at 13.91 lbs. On day 2 Pat only managed to bring back 4 fish to weigh, they locked in the scales at 9.01 lbs.   and that was good enough to seal his victory, with a 2day total weight of 22.92 lbs.  Pat took home a check for $1044 for his first-place finish.

"Both days I caught a few fish in the mornings on high tide targeting inside weed edges with frogs and moving baits. As the tide fell out I moved to the outside weed edges and fished painfully slow with finesse baits. The first day I had 8 bites, catching the last keeper just after 2pm. The second day only had six bites and missed two." Said Loewy.

Second place was taken by Brett Ewing of Waldorf, MD.  On day1 Brett brought back a 5fish limit that went for 11.33 on the scales, anchoring the days bag with a nice 3.29 lb. kicker.  Brett stayed consistent on day 2 managing to bring 5 more fish to the scales, they locked in at 10.68 lbs. anchored by a 3.85 lb. kicker. Brett had a 2-day total weight of 21.97 lbs. landing him in second place.  He took home a check for $616 for his efforts.

Third place was claimed by Aaron Dixon of Bel Alton, MD he brought 5 fish to the scales on day1 for a weight of 9.68 lbs. He anchored his day1 catch with a nice 3.42 lb. kicker. He landed another 5-fish limit on day 2 that locked in at 10.24 lbs. anchored by a 3.51 lb. kicker.  Aaron finished with a 2-day total weight of 19.92 lbs.  He took home a check for $202 for his 2 days of fishing.

Coming in fourth was Michael Roselle of Laplata, MD with a 2-day total weight of 16.52 lbs. Rounding out the top five was Scott Randall of King George, VA with a 2-day total weight of 13.93 lbs.

Justin Roberts of Bryantown, MD brought in the biggest bass of the tournament, that bass tipped the scales at 4.11 lbs.

These anglers are earning valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual Ram American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of the Year Final Round at the Ram American Fishing Tour National Championship.
