John Simonof Wins the ABA District 42 Championship on the Arkansas River
The 2-day divisional championship tournament of the American Bass Anglers RAM American Fishing Tour D42 was held on September 9th-10th 2017 in the Maumelle Pool of the Arkansas River launching out of Maumelle Park. Anglers were greeted with nice late-summer weather and a non-existent flow. The weather was great and so was the fishing as plenty of fish crossed the scales.
John Simonof topped the field with two 5-fish limits totaling 28.18 lbs. John threw a variety of lures and V&M baits on Owner hooks with Temple Fork Outfitters rods and Hi-Seas Quattro Fluorocarbon line to catch his fish. John also locked up the angler of the year position for D42 and will compete against all other divisional anglers of the year at the National Championship for a new Triton/Mercury package.
BJ Knowles sacked up a total of nine fish for a total weight of 18.76 lbs. BJ caught his fish on a Sweet Beaver.
Rounding out the top three was Donald Armbrust who sacked up a total of nine fish for a total weight of 13.92 lbs. throwing soft plastic baits.
1st John Simonof 23.18 lbs. $752
BB D1 Todd Grubbs 4.10 lbs. $55
The next tournament in D42 will be in the 2018 season on the Arkansas River/Pine Bluff Pool on 19 Nov 2017 launching out of Regional Park.
D47 will start with a tournament on 4 Nov 2017 at Lake Hamilton launching from the AGFC ramp.
More tournament information will be posted soon to ABA Arkansas American Bass Anglers Facebook page.
I’d like to thank our local sponsors who provide great support throughout the year.
